Preferred Specimen(s)
Nasopharyngeal swab in V-C-M medium (green or purple cap) or equivalent
Minimum Volume
One swab in transport
Collection Instructions
Swab must be sterile Dacron, nylon or rayon with plastic shafts. Place swab in sterile viral transport media containing protein stabilizer, antibiotics to inhibit bacterial fungal growth and buffer solutions (e.g. UTM, V-C-M, M4, M4RT intended to transport chlamydia, mycoplasma, or viruses).
