Performing Laboratory
Billings Clinic Laboratory: Chemistry
Useful For
Lactose tolerance tests measure the ability of your intestines to break down a type of sugar found in milk and other dairy products called lactose
Methodology
Hexokinase
Specimen Requirements
Serum or plasma should be physically separated from cells as soon as possible with a maximum limit of two hours from the time of collection.
- Draw blood in a green-top (lithium heparin) tube(s) or a red-top tube (serum) following an 8 to 12 hour fast.
