Methodology
Indirect Fluorescent Antibody (IFA)
General Information:
The substrate used is the HEp-s (human epithelial) cell line with mitotic figures.
Specimen Requirements
- Draw blood in a serum gel tube(s).
- Spin down and send 0.5 mL of serum frozen in plastic vial.
Reference Values
Negative
- Positive results will be titered.
- Drug-induced lupus may be caused by procainamide, hydralazine, methyldopa, or isoniazid. The normal population, ≥50 years, may have a positive result.

Specimen Requirements - Specimen Processing
Aliquot serum into 2 plastic vials.
Store 2 vials in ANAS1 rack in Freezer 32 (F2).
