Specimen Requirements
- Specimen must arrive within 48 hours of collection if an aliquot is not frozen at -20oC.
- 1 mL from an early-morning, random urine collection in a sterile urine container.
- Send specimen refrigerated.
- Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
- First-morning specimens generally contain highest concentrations of hCG, and are recommended for early detection of pregnancy. However, any urine is suitable for testing.
