This test checks for the presence of blood in a patient's stool.
- This test will detect any blood found in the stool, including animal blood (eating a rare steak the day before the test may change the test results)

Color Reaction (Hemoccult®)
Specimen Requirements
This test is appropriately ordered by a physician/nonphysician provider (NPP) who desires to screen non-Medicare patients and for Medicare patients for reasons other than routine screening.
Collect specimen using Hemoccult® card following instructions supplied or collect a random stool specimen in a clean, dry, leakproof container with a tightly-fitting lid.
