Specimen Requirements

  • Draw a full, green-top (lithium heparin) tube.
  • Send 5 mL of unprocessed lithium heparin whole blood.
  • Lithium heparin tube must be properly filled.
  • Immediately after draw invert several times to mix blood.
  • Do not centrifuge.
  • Forward unprocessed whole blood promptly.
