Test Code Billings Clinic: 4649 C-Reactive Protein, High Sensitivity (hs-CRP), Plasma or Serum
Performing Laboratory
Billings Clinic Laboratory: Chemistry
Useful For
- Assessment of risk of developing myocardial infarction in patients presenting with acute coronary syndromes
- Assessment of risk of developing cardiovascular disease or ischemic events in individuals who do not manifest disease at present
Note: Screening the entire adult population is not recommended. Acute coronary syndrome management should not depend on CRP measurements. CRP is not a substitute for traditional cardiovascular risk factors. CRP is also increased in injury, fever, and infection.
Methodology
Turbidimetric/Immunoturbidimetric
