Specimen Requirements
Contact Billings Clinic Laboratory at 866-232-2522 prior
to specimen draw for specific instructions.
It is imperative to follow specimen requirement directions. Due to
time sensitivity, specimen must be drawn Monday through Thursday
only and shipped the day of draw. Do not draw or transport specimen
on weekends as Saturday deliver is NOT accepted.
- Draw blood in plain, red-top tube(s).
- Serum gel tube is acceptable.
- Spin down and send 2 mL of serum refrigerated in plastic vial.
Specimen needs to be drawn either before treatment with interferon or >24 hours following the most recent dose. Patient should not be on steroid therapy for at least 2 weeks prior to testing.
Reference Values
Normal titer: <20
Mild/moderate titer: 21-60
High titer: >60
