The BD MAX Enteric Bacterial Panel simultaneously detects the pathogens responsible for gastroenteritis due to Salmonella spp., Campylobacter spp. (jejuni and coli), Shigella spp./Enteroinvasive E. coli, and stx1/stx2 found in Shiga toxin producing E. coli.

Specimen Requirements

  • Specimen Type: Stool
  • Avoid contamination with water, urine, toilet paper or soap with the specimen.
  • Unpreserved stool specimens.
    • Specimens should be liquid or soft stool and transferred into a dry, sterile container.
  • Cary-Blair preserved specimens.
    • Specimens should be liquid or soft stool specimen transferred to a 15 mL transport device according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
