Billings Clinic Laboratory: Immunology
Useful For
-
The presence of anti-Ro60 autoantibodies, in conjunction with clinical findings and other laboratory tests, aids in the diagnosis of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Sjögren’s Syndrome.
-
Autoantibodies to Ro60 are found in 30-50% of patients with SLE and 50-80% of patients with Sjögren’s syndrome.
-
Anti-Ro60 antibodies have also been found in patients with clinical features of SLE who are ANA negative.
-
Anti-Ro antibodies have special diagnostic significance in congenital heart block. Isolated congenital complete atrioventricular block (CAVB) shows a close association with maternal anti-Ro and anti-SS-B (La) antibodies
-
Positive anti-Ro60 result is one of the three criteria as specified in the American College of Rheumatology Classification Criteria for Sjögren’s Syndrome.
