Useful For
- Tests for autoantibodies directed against beta cell protein (antigen) but is not specific to beta cells
- One of the most commonly detected autoantibodies in newly diagnosed type 1 diabetics (about 70-80%)
Specimen Requirements
- Submit 2 mL of serum from a plain red top or red gel.
- Allow blood to clot prior to centrifugation.
- Transfer serum to a plastic pour off tube.
- Send by overnight mail, refrigerated.
- All tests must be accompanied by a Barbara Davis Childhood Diabetes Test Request (See Resources)
