Tests for autoantibodies directed against beta cell antigens but is non-specific
Detected in about 60% of type 1 diabetics

Specimen Requirements

Submit 2 mL of serum from a plain red top or red gel.
Allow blood to clot prior to centrifugation.
Transfer serum to a plastic pour off tube.
Send by overnight mail, refrigerated.
All tests must be accompanied by a Barbara Davis Childhood Diabetes Test Request (See Resources)
