  • Distinguishing between chronic hepatitis B and chronic hepatitis C

 

Methodology

Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immunoassay (CMIA)

Specimen Requirements

Serum should be physically separated from cells as soon as possible with a maximum limit of two hours from the time of collection.

 

  • Draw blood in a serum gel tube(s).
  • Spin down and send 6 mL of serum divided into 2 plastic vials each containing 3 mL of serum.
  • Send specimens frozen in plastic vials.
  • Draw date is required on request form for processing.
  • Indicate “Type Unknown” on request form.

Reject Due To

  • Heat-inactivated specimen
  • Grossly hemolyzed specimen
