Important Note

The performance of certain assays contained within this panel has not been established for neonatal patients or pregnant women.

 

In patients receiving therapy with high doses of biotin (> 5 mg/day), no sample should be taken until at least 8 hours after the last biotin administration, for certain assays contained within this panel.

Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immunoassay (CMIA)

Specimen Requirements

Serum should be physically separated from cells as soon as possible with a maximum limit of two hours from the time of collection.

 

 

  • Draw blood in serum gel tube(s).
  • Spin down and send 4 mL of serum divided into 2 plastic vials each containing 2 mL of serum.
  • Send specimens frozen in plastic vials.
  • Draw date is required on request form for processing.

  • If Billings Clinic: #4059 “Hepatitis Bs Antigen (HBsAg), Serum” is positive; consider testing for hepatitis delta antibody (anti-HDV).
