Mutation Analysis of CALR, along with JAK2 and MPL, allows for the detection of a clonal marker in >90% of patients with MPN, aiding in disease diagnosis and prognostication.

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)

Specimen Requirements

  • Do not centrifuge
  • Send sample refrigerated. Use a refrigerated cold pack for transport.
  • Make sure cold pack is not in direct contact with the specimen.
  • DO NOT FREEZE

Submit 1 or both of the following specimens:

 

Bone Marrow

Send 2 - 3 mL of bone marrow aspirate in an EDTA tube (purple top).

 

Whole Blood

Send 2 - 3 mL of peripheral blood in an EDTA tube (purple top).

Reference Values

An interpretive report will be provided.
