Specimen Requirements

Specimen Collection/Transport:

Draw blood in a green-top (lithium heparin) tube
Send 2 mL of lithium heparin whole blood.
Place specimen on wet ice slush immediately after draw.
Avoid exposure of specimen to atmosphere.

Reference Range:

Newborn - 12 years 0 - 2%

> 12 years 0.5 - 1.5%
